Spectacular House
We went to look at this house today during an open house. I loved how much character is has as a lumber era house. . . the woodwork and built-ins were so neat. It would take a lot to maintain all the wood, inside and out and i think the kitchen could stand a bit of remodeling. Also, it would be hard to have all the bedrooms up stairs share one bathroom. . . but the character of the house is amazing. . . clawfoot cast iron bathtub, wooden crown molding, huge mahogany pocket doors, solid wood doors with original hardware, window seats, gigantic covered porch, two wooden staircases (three levels), and leaded windows. Amazing.

Absolutely gorgeous house but I understand about your thoughts about the upkeep, the stairs, AND the ONE bathroom. These days we are not happy about standing in line to use the bathroom. Once upon a time it was just part of life. :=))))))

It is neat to think how they lived in the lumber era. They used the third floor as a ballroom. I can almost picture the women in their dresses headed up the grand staircase.
There are two bathrooms, but there is only one on the floor where all the bedrooms are. The other one is on the main floor.

kt and i were admiring that house from the road the other day. there's a lot of really great houses near downtown muskegon that are very inexpensive.
i'd really like to move down there.
anyone in for a neighborhood co-op?

The white one right behind it is very intriguing to me and TJ. There are no pictures of the inside and it is by appointment only if you want to see it, but we might just do that. It is very inexpensive, was moved there 8 years ago, full of character, and is huge!!
